7115: How did IDUN come to be? (What does IDUN mean?
Dahlia: Idun was born out of a love for designers and what they were doing. I wanted to bring interesting and quality pieces made by true artists to St. Paul, MN. IDUN is the Norse goddess of youth and rejuvenation. I want people to leave Idun feeling inspired and confident--rejuvenated in a sense.
7115: Tell us about the shop design and location.
Dahlia: Cathedral Hill in St. Paul is a beautiful and historic neighborhood. It's full of small businesses who care about community and support each other. I feel very fortunate that Idun calls 495 Selby Ave home!
I wanted the shop to feel like a gallery for the pieces. It's an old and interesting space so I kept the design details simple and modern, while also taking into consideration the integrity/history of the building.
7115: How does IDUN stand out from the rest?
Dahlia: Idun focuses on quality and interesting pieces from designers who care and love what they do! It's a place where you get to experiment and find pieces that express who you are.
7115: What do you find most satisfying/enjoyable being a business owner?
Dahlia: I have met the most amazing people. Clients, designers, friends-so many beautiful individuals that have taught me so much. It's a really powerful thing to have a passion come to fruition and have people rally around it.
